William M Kauffman is a retired physician from the Department of Veterans Health Affairs.  He is an artist who was good enough at science to have a career in healthcare.  In addition to writing, he is active in the visual arts and plays the violin.  He lives in rural East Tennessee.  He finds inspiration in the lives of the people he meets every day.
